Celebrity Friday: Channing Tatum

A recent New York Times article examined the Hollywood machine trying to make a leading man out of Channing Tatum. Tatum, who goes by "Chan" to his friends, is 31-year-old and married to a dancer named Jenna Dewan-Tatum. The article goes on to describe that in his quest for Hollywood A-list status, Tatum has made an astonishing 16 movies in the last 15 years. His breakout role was in the guilty pleasure Step Up which was made for $12 million dollars but grossed $100 million more than that and spawned 3 increasingly horrendous sequels, none starring our buddy Chan.

Ya gotta admit, he is cute in that movie:

In Summer 2012, Tatum will appear as a male stripper (based loosely on real life events in his life) in Magic Mike, directed by Oscar-winning directer Steven Soderbergh as well as a lead role in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

I know which of those movies I am gonna want to watch! How about you?

Celebrity Friday: Matt Bomer Comes Out

Matt Bomer is the star of USA's White Collar and has appeared as a random hottie on several other television shows (like AC's Traveler and NBC's Chuck). Bomer officially came out of the closet recently when he mentioned his partner and the three kids they are raising together. The 33-year-old actor has been living in a "glass closet" since most Hollywood insiders knew about his sexual orientation (*cough* Jodie Foster *cough*) but since we are not all Hollywood insiders the news will come as a disappointing shock for many of his straight female fans!

Bomer could qualify as Celebrity Friday and Eye Candy!

Welcome Home, Gay Marine!

The above pictures of U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Brandon Morgan kissing his partner Dalan Wells on his homecoming in Hawaii have gone viral in the last 24 hours.

According to Steve Rothaus of Gay South Florida, on learning of his new-found fame, Brandon is quoted as saying:

I'm glad I can be an inspiration to someone. Thank you so very much for sharing my story

Eye Candy: James Guardino (3rd time!)

James Guardino is a very famous fitness model, primarily known for his work with the Undergear Catalog. He has appeared as Eye Candy on December 28, 2009 and October 31, 2011. He is the canonical "cute white boy," although he is "half-German and half-Italian." He joins the small but growingnumber of models who have been featured as Eye Candy thrice times here at MadProfesssah.com.

These digital shots are apparently taken relatively recently (in October 2011). Still looking good!

Celebrity Friday: Novak and Marko Djokovic Half-Naked Together

The #1 tennis player in the world Novak Djokovic, 24, and his younger brother Marko, 20, show off their, umm, toes, in the sand of Abu Dhabi with a "Santa camel" in this picture. The younger Djokovic is also a tennis player (ranked in the Top 1000) but has generally been receiving attention for being "that cute guy in Djokovic's spectator box" while he won 10 titles in 2011.

Celebrity Friday: Bradley Cooper Named Sexiest Man Alive

Bradley Cooper has been named "the sexiest man alive" by People magazine, annoying fans of Ryan Gosling. I have been a fan of Cooper's since his appearance on J.J. Abrams' Alias television show which starred Jennifer Garner as a secret CIA agent with family issues and Michael Vartan as her handler and love-interest. Cooper played Garner's best friend who was also in love with her. Even back then I could not understand why garner's character would prefer Vartan over Cooper.

Now that the 36-year-old single guy has become a bona fide movie star with appearances in The Hangover and its sequel his profile has soared. This was his reaction when he learned he had been named the sexiest man alive for 2011 by People:

"I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this [title]," saysthe Hangover actor, 36. "I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying." 


Another reason to love him? Cooper, whose father Charles passed away in January, is especially close with his mom, Gloria. When he learned he'd been crowned Sexiest Man Alive, the "first thing I thought," he says, "was, 'My mother is going to be so happy.' "

Celebrity Friday: Theo James

Every once in a while I am channel surfing and come across the show Bedlam on BBC America. I always stay and watch it for awhile, hoping for glimpses of stunningly gorgeous British actor Theo James who plays Jed. According to his Wikipedia page, Theo James was born Theo Taptiklis in December 16, 1984, which makes him 26 years old.

He apparently has decent role in the next Underworld movie and was recently named a "Star of Tomorrow." Remember where you saw him first!

Eye Candy: James Guardino (reprise)

James Guardino is very famous for his appearances in the Undergear catalog. He is one of my favorite Eye Candy models of all time; he seems to never take a bad picture, regardless of the angle he is photographed at or what ridiculous undergarment he is modeling.

I was surprised to discover recently that James had only appeared on the blog once before, December 28, 2009.

I am very happy to rectify that situation by presenting these four images of James doing what he does so well: looking good!

Celebrity Friday: Zachary Quinto Comes Out

Zachary Quinto played Spock in J.J. Abrams' re-boot of Star Trk

Zachary Quinto, 34, is an actor best known for playing the hero/villain on the once wildly popular television series Heroes and inhabiting the role of Spock in J.J. Abrams re-boot of Star Trek (see my A- review).

But this week he makes news by revealing his long-rumored sexual orientation. Zach is gay!

Last year, the Times, in profiling him forAngels, noted that “the blogosphere is rife with speculation about his sexuality” but that “he prefers not to feed the rumor mill with either substantiation or dismissal.” That has changed. A little while later in our conversation, speaking of the cultural bipolarity that can see gay marriage legalized in New York in the same year that yet another gay teenager, Jamey Rodemeyer, was bullied and killed himself, Quinto says, “And again, as a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it, but as a human being I look at it and say ‘Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?’ We’re terrified of facing ourselves.”

Hmmm, I hope this doesn't impact his career negatively. (I doubt it will.) I'm also curious about his Star Trek co-star (who played the other pivotal role of James T. Kirk), Chris Pine, and has gone on to co-star in films with big stars like Denzel Washington in Unstoppable. Pine still has no "personal information" in his Wikipedia page, while Quinto's contains the fact that he is now out as a gay man.

Eye Candy: Ryan Hughes (reprise)

Ryan Hughes has appeared on Eye Candy before (September 5, 2011). He is a 24-year-old body builder and fitness model who has a blog (by invitation only) and a twitter account. He also has a Facebook fan page. As you can see, there's a lot of reasons why a lot of people like to look at Ryan, especially with as little clothing as possible!

I first saw pictures of this amazing physique at Sozo's Blog and then found more pictures of 24-year-old, 6-foot and 214 pound model Ryan Hughes at We Love Guys.

Ryan has worked with many famous photographers like Rick Day and Thomas Synnamon and appeared on the cover of Australian men's magazine DNA. He is definitely qualified to Eye Candy!

Matt Acton is a smoking hot 22-year-old model who has worked with the most proflific and prestigious photographers in the fitness modelling industry. He was featured Eye Candy on MadProfessah.com once before on November 1, 2010. Probably not the last time, either. Hawt is hawt!
